Uh-oh, your kiddo dropped a box of snacks in the car while driving, can you twist and pick up the snacks with no pain?
Back mobility and common pain with twisting
Your ribs and mid-back should be able to twist without sharp pain in your lower back.
We rotate our spine while playing golf, doing stretches, pilates, or reaching for things behind our desk chair.
Additionally, if the mid-back (thoracic) is tight and cannot rotate well, the lower back muscles over-compensate.
Consequently, this can give you a longer swing or help you reach around, causing pain.
If you have lower back pain while twisting side to side, your mid-back may be a culprit.
Ashiatsu massage may help reduce back strain.

Golfing and low back recovery
Golfing requires twisting of the spine for that nice swing. And let’s face it, we know you probably have a favorite side you use. Remember to practice and use both sides to ensure your muscles are equally strong and not creating weakness and/or over-use on one side of the body. Creating length with massage therapy in these twisting muscles also ensures a smoother swing.
